From -kun to -chan

Summary: She doesn't want to change herself but what happen when a guy say something to her?
Author's note: This should be chaptered fic but I change it to one-shot in order to avoid it meet dead end. Specially for my friend, Naomi

 

                Karina still at her workplace in a cafe, doing her work. When her work ends, she just changes her clothes and someone says, “Karina-chan, your boyfriend already waits for you at outside the cafe.”

                “Mira-chan, she is not my boyfriend.” Say Karina. She just closes her locker and leaves the cafe. When she notice Naomi is waiting for her, she says, “Nao-chan, you should change your appearance to girly person.”

                “I don’t need to change anything for myself.” Say Naomi.

                “If you don’t change yourself, everyone will see you as my boyfriend.” Say Karina.

                “It would be better. At least, you won’t two-timed with your boyfriend.” Say Naomi.

                “You should get life like normal girl; dress-up, date and have a lover.” Say Karina.

                “Why you sound like my mom?” ask Naomi.

                “Well, I already have three daughter.” Say Karina.

                “They are your nieces and not your daughter.” Say Naomi.

                “Could we keep that talk until tomorrow? I really tired for today, Nao-chan.” Say Karina. Both of them just go back home as they stay in same house. On the way, Karina says in her mind, “I need to find someone for her.”

                “EH?! You don’t work today?” ask Naomi when realize Karina is watching television on the next day while drinking her favourite tea.

                “Well, I don’t have shift for weekends. Are you free today?” say Karina.

                “Of course I’m free.” Say Naomi.

                “So, let’s go out. I already make plan with the boys to hang out and have fun.” Say Karina.

                “Go out with the boys? What are you try to plan?” ask Naomi.

                “Just have fun with them and not doing anything weird... maybe.” Say Karina.

                “What do you mean by that?” ask Naomi again.

                “You will know it by yourself. Make sure you get ready before lunch as the boys will fetch us first before go to our lunch at outside.” Say Karina.

                “You really like to plan something with telling me first.” Say Naomi.

                “Yeah, that’s me. Uwah, that car super cool!!” Say Karina. Naomi wants to say something but she knows that her best friend since high school would never hear it. She just gets ready to go out when the time come.

                “Ah, I really wish my daughter wear like proper girl even for once before died.” Say Karina as she act like sick mother when see Naomi wear completely like a boy.

                “Karina-chan, don’t you think you acting skill become better day by day? You could apply as actress after this.” Say Naomi.

                “I want to do it but too lazy for it.” Say Karina.

                “Eh, I think I hear horn sound just now.” Say Naomi.

                Karina take a look outside form window and says, “They already here. Let’s go.”

                Both of them leave the house and join the boys in a car. Four of them go to family restaurant for lunch before go to cinema to watch latest movie. Naomi knows it is Karina and Keito plan as they ‘accidentally’ make Naomi sit beside Kota at couple seat in cinema.

                “Why you buy couple seat?” ask Naomi.

                “Gomen, it is the only seat available.” Say Karina.

                “How about I seat with you, Karina-chan?” Naomi tries to avoid sit together with Kota.

                “I want to sit with Keito-kun today. Well, both of you just enjoy the movie okay.” Say Karina.

                “Don’t worry, I will not do weird thing while watching movie.” Say Kota.

                “Not yet. At least, he will not to do on you, Naomi-kun.” Say Keito. Naomi just ignores it and joins them to get into the cinema.

                “Wah, it really fun ne.” Say Karina.

                “What do you mean by fun? You fall sleep in middle of movie.” Say Keito.

                “So, where we are going next?” ask Naomi.

                Karina takes a look in her bag and says, “Yabai, I forget that I need to buy something for my nieces. You guys just go ahead and I will join you guys later.”

                “I will follow you. At least, I can help you to bring it.” Say Keito.

                “EH?! Are you want to say that I have to follow him?” ask Naomi and Karina just nods her head with Keito. Naomi wants to say something again but both of them already left her with Kota.

                “Why you really hate me?” ask Kota.

                “I think I never say that I hate you.” Say Naomi.

                “Then, why you seem doesn’t want to be alone with me?” ask Kota again.

                “It just... I don’t.... really used to be with people like you.” Say Naomi.

                “You think it is a good idea to leave Kota-kun with Naomi-kun?” ask Keito.

                “Both of them only normal human and nothing bad will happen.” Say Karina while choosing kids’ toys. She doesn’t seem worry about her best friend.

                “How you could say it with straight face?” ask Keito again.

                “Relax, I just want Nao-chan open her mind to everyone. She always hides herself behind her black past.” Say Karina.

                “Black past? Do you mean by that day?” ask Keito and Karina just nods her head without saying anything anymore. Both of them just hope Naomi doesn’t injured Kota without reason.

                “Ne, Keito-kun. I really want Naomi to have someone in her life but actually, I don’t know how to make it happen.” Say Karina.

                Keito just hugs Karina’s shoulder and says, “I think we should ask for help from my friends who more expert in this things.”

                The awkward situation continues even it already several hours the couple leaves them. Kota wants to say something to Naomi but he’s afraid if Naomi suddenly loses temper.

                “Hey, where you want to go right now?” ask Naomi.

                “Nothing particular. Where you want to go?” say Kota.

                “I need to go to music shop as I need several things before my concert. Do you know any shop near this place?” Say Naomi. She works as one of musician for well-known group.

                “Ah, I know where you can find everything for what you want.” Say Kota.

                “How you know about this shop?” ask Naomi when they arrive at Light Music Shop.

                “Well, one of our group’s members manages this shop with his siblings.” Say Kota.

                “Yo, Koppi. What make you suddenly come here?” ask Hikaru.

                “This person what to find something for her.” Say Kota as he points to Naomi who already walks around the shop to find what she wants.

                “Your girlfriend?” ask Hikaru while nudges Kota.

                “No, she is just one of my friends. She really close with Keito’s lover.” Say Kota.

                “Oh, that is the girl from the rumors.” Say Hikaru.

                “Rumors about what?” ask Kota.

                “It about Keito’s lover has other lover. The person always fetches Karina from her work.” Say Hikaru.

                “I can see why the rumors could happen. She really look like Karina’s other boyfriend but I think she just care about her friend. You know that Keito’s lover super clumsy.” Say Kota.

                “No one could forget how she could knock out Keito by just tripping over table.” Say Hikaru.

                “Your shop have music sheet that have quality that I want.” Say Naomi.

                “We always prepare the best for our costumer. If you want it again, I can keep it for you.” Say Hikaru.

                “Really? You just offer a big help for me. It really hard to find music sheet like this.” Say Naomi.

                “So, you’re also artist like us?” ask Hikaru.

                “No, I just a musician. I play for Chansu Orchestra. I play violin.” Say Naomi.

                “Violin? It’s hard to play, ne. It doesn’t have chord like guitar.” Say Hikaru.

                “I play it because it is my late dad’s wish that he want me to play it.” Say Naomi. Hikaru and Naomi talk like already know for ages while Kota just looks at both of them.

                “Ne, arigatou for showing a great shop for me.” Say Naomi after both of them leaves the shop.

                “It just happen I know about the shop.” Say Kota.

                “Why you never say that you’re actually could play guitar?” ask Naomi.

                “You never ask about it and I don’t think you have interest in it.” Say Kota.

                “I always want to watch live performance but don’t know when and Karina-chan never tells about you guys. She keeps talking about her boyfriend.” Say Naomi.

                “It must be uzai sometimes, right?” ask Kota.

                “Maa, I admit about it but it is her personality and I already used to it.” Say Naomi.

                “So, where you’re going after this?” Kota asks Naomi again.

                “I have to go back home. I need to begin my violin practice.” Say Naomi as she looks at her watch.

                “Okay, let me send you back home.” Say Kota.

                “Don’t need to do that. I can go back home by myself. I know how to take care of myself.” Say Naomi.

                “But you still a girl and I can’t let you go back home alone.” Say Kota and Naomi just surrender with it. Both of them walk together but just silent accompany them.

                When almost arrive home, a girl runs to Naomi and says, “Naomi nee-chan, hisahiburi~”

                “Utako-chan, what are you doing here?” ask Naomi.

                “I want to send something to mama but she’s not at home.” Say Utako.

                “Maybe Karina-chan still on date with her lover. You want me to give any message to her?” say Naomi.

                “Give this notice to her and remind her to take her clothes at boutique next week. Arigatou for help, nee-chan.” Say Utako before she leaves both of them.

                “Who is that girl?” ask Kota.

                “Karina-chan’s niece. She always comes to our house to send things.” Say Naomi.

                “EH?! You already reach home? I thought you still date with Koppi-kun.” Say Karina who just arrive home.

                “Why I have still on date with him?” ask Naomi.

                “Maybe it because you already find light with him.” Guess Karina.

                “What light? Ah, forget about it. This is notice for you that Utako-chan sends to you.” Say Naomi.

                “Ah, arigatou~ Ne, Nao-chan, do you want to change yourself for better?” ask Karina.

                “I don’t need any changes for myself. I already happy with my own self.” Say Naomi.

                “Happy or just make yourself close to others?” ask Karina in low voice but Naomi already get into her room. Karina just looks around and leaves out huge sigh.

                After several days, Naomi gets invitation from someone to a party. She asks Karina about it and her best friend just says, “Oh, they just get offer to become pro and that party is their debut party.”

                “You will go to their party?” ask Naomi.

                “Of course. I want to celebrate their dream. Ah, what should I wear to their party?” Say Karina.

                “What kind of party will be?” ask Naomi.

                “It seem it will formal party and the girl should wear dress.” Say Karina.

                “Dress? I don’t want to wear it.”’ Say Naomi.

                “Just wear it for the party since it is important day for them.” Say Karina.

                “But I don’t know what to wear.” Say Naomi.

                “You don’t have to worry about it. Tomorrow, we will go out for shopping.” Say Karina as she hugs Naomi.

                “Are you already plan anything for it?” ask Naomi.

                “You will know it soon.” Say Karina.

                Naomi doesn’t even surprise when the boys also join them for shopping. She says, “I thought you guys would be busy with your preparation.”

                “I want to accompany my lover for shopping. I want to make sure she will wear great dress on that day. I think you also need help to change yourself.” Say Keito.

                While both of them lover at other side of boutique, Kota ask, “Are you afraid to change yourself?”

                “Why you say like that?” ask Naomi.

                “Gomen, I already heard about your black past. I never know that you had been dumped by someone just because lame excuse.” Say Kota.

                “You must be also laughing at me, right? Those girlish styles don’t suit me.” Say Naomi.

                “You just need someone that always support you no matter who you are.” Say Kota.

                “I already have Karina-chan.” Say Naomi.

                “I mean someone else other than Karina, Naomi-kun. She already have Keito and you need someone like him.” Say Kota.

                “What do you mean by that?” ask Naomi.

                “I will say it straight to you. I like you... I mean I love you. I always want to protect you no matter what happen.” Say Kota.

                “Then, why you want to change me?” ask Naomi.

                “Someone said to me that she really want to see the old you.” Say Kota.

                “Who is it?” ask Naomi before she guess, “It is Karina-chan.”

                “Well, she’s part of it but for me, just be yourself. Just wear anything that you like to the party as it the best for you.” Say Kota. In the end of the day, Naomi doesn’t buy anything for the party.

                On the party day, Kota feel really nervous as Naomi hasn’t say anything about his confession. He could only meet her during the party as the girls will come to the part venue by themselves. Hikaru ask him, “Why you look like want to jump out from this place?”

                “He nervous about his confession to Naomi-kun.” Say Hikaru.

                “How you know about it?” ask Kota.

                “Kou-chan, everyone already knows about it and everyone wants to know the outcome.” Say Kei.

                “Keito---” Kota want to attack Keito but the boy just give sign everything-would-be-okay.

                When the party begin, they just make the show and Kota tries to find Naomi. He only notices Karina with a girl who seems foreign at his eyes but the girl’s eyes seem familiar to him. He gets near to the girl during free time and asks, “Where is Naomi-kun?”

                “She’s right beside me. Kireii desu ne?” say Karina as she hugs the girl beside her.

                “Eh, you’re Naomi-kun?” Kota really surprise. Naomi is wearing knee-length orange dress, apply light make-up and style her hair.

                “Yes, do I look really different?” ask Naomi.

                “Really different but you look different. Enough to make me breathless to see you.” Say Kota.

                “Well, my ‘mother’ forces me to wear this for today. Even I want to wear something else, she hide all of it and only left this dress for me.” Say Naomi.

                “Your ‘mother’?” Kota feel a bit confuse with it.

                “My best friend; she become like that when I said to her that I will change myself and open more to others.” Say Naomi.

                “You should ask me about it. I could help you even it just a little bit.” Say Kota.

                “I want to change by myself and show it to you. This change also is my answer for your confession.” Say Naomi.

                “You accept it?” ask Kota.

                “Not at beginning but I begin accept it as you’re the first one who dare to say that I just have to be myself for myself. I think if I ignore you, I will never meet someone like you again. I hope after this, just call me; Naomi-chan and not with ‘-kun’ anymore.” Say Naomi. Kota hugs her and everyone in that hall gives a big applause to new born couple.

                “I will go back home late today.” Say Naomi.

                “Where are you going?” ask Karina.

                “Of course, go out with him again. Maybe both of us will go out to find clothes for his next concert.” Say Naomi.

                “Naomi-chan, you already ready to go out?” ask Kota.

                “Yeah, let’s go.” Say Naomi. Both of them go out and leave the house.

                “From ‘-kun’ to ‘-chan’. It’s miracle for him as he gets chance to help her to change and also get her love.” Say Karina while take a peek from window.
